A diamond certificate is an independent laboratory report that documents a diamond's physical characteristics and quality grades. It's important because it provides objective verification of the diamond's specifications, protects buyers from misrepresentation and serves as proof of value. Certificates are issued by gemological laboratories that use standardised grading systems recognised internationally. The certificate includes detailed measurements of the 4Cs: cut grade, colour grade, clarity grade and carat weight. They're the four characteristics that determine a diamond's quality and price. Cut affects how sparkly it looks. Colour shows how white or tinted it is. Clarity reveals how many tiny marks are inside. Carat Weight measures how heavy it is.
